Common auto glass questions
Use these answers as a starting point, then request a quote for advice based on your vehicle and damage.
Can a windshield chip be repaired instead of replaced?
Many small chips can be repaired when they are evaluated early and are not in a critical viewing area, at the edge of the glass or associated with extensive cracking. A technician should inspect the damage before recommending repair or replacement.
Do you offer mobile auto glass service?
Yes. United AutoGlass offers mobile service for eligible work at homes, workplaces, farms, fleet yards and jobsites in supported Western Kentucky and Southern Indiana areas. Availability depends on location, weather, vehicle type and calibration requirements.
Can you replace a windshield while I am at work?
Mobile windshield replacement at work may be available when the vehicle is accessible in an appropriate work area and the appointment can be completed safely. Submit the vehicle and worksite address when requesting a quote.
Does Kentucky insurance cover a windshield without a deductible?
For qualifying Kentucky policies that provide comprehensive or other-than-collision coverage, a glass-only motor vehicle claim is covered without regard to a deductible or minimum amount under KRS 304.20-060. Coverage and claim details must be verified with your insurer.
Can I choose my auto glass shop for an insurance claim?
Kentucky law states that a customer shall not be required to use a particular motor vehicle glass repair shop as a condition of claim payment or benefits. United AutoGlass can help you navigate the claim process while you confirm coverage with your carrier.
Do I need ADAS calibration after windshield replacement?
A vehicle with windshield-mounted cameras or affected driver assistance systems may require calibration after replacement. Systems can include lane departure warning and forward collision support. The required procedure depends on the vehicle and manufacturer requirements.
Do you use OEM or aftermarket windshields?
The right glass depends on the vehicle, available features and requirements such as camera brackets, acoustic glass, rain sensors, heating elements or head-up display compatibility. Ask the team which glass options are appropriate for your vehicle.
Do you replace glass on semis, farm equipment or construction equipment?
Yes. United AutoGlass provides specialty glass service for semi trucks, tractors, combines, construction equipment, RVs and buses in supported service areas.
How soon can I drive after windshield replacement?
Safe-drive-away timing depends on the adhesive system, temperature, humidity and installation conditions. Your technician will provide the correct release time after service.
What should I have ready when requesting a quote?
Have the vehicle year, make and model; the damaged glass location; photos when available; your service address; and insurance information if you plan to submit a claim.
